My Plan, My Way Project

ABS formed a partnership with the University of South Dakota three years ago to create a learning opportunity called My Plan, My Way.  Students in health services tracks spend time with individuals getting to know what is important to them.  At the end of the semester, the students help the person develop a project that the person can share with their supporters to express their goals and dreams.  Duane was looking forward to participating in the My Plan, My Way project this year.  He met with Jennifer and Grace.  They have been meeting each week, spending time doing fun things and getting to know each other.  Duane found a quick connection with both ladies as all three grew up on farms.  Farm life has continued to be important to Duane and he has enjoyed talking with the ladies about all of the things that have changed since he left the farm life many years ago.  They spent a day looking at implements and machinery together.  Duane learned a lot from Jennifer and Grace about new machinery and he enjoyed showing them the older versions of the machinery.  They also spent time volunteering with animals together, going out to eat and getting to know each other.
