See what we talk about!
It has always been important to Toby to be able to connect with his family by sharing some of the same experience they had when he was growing up. Toby’s dad Don had worked for several years at the Scotland South Dakota Haunted House scaring people for fun. Toby has shared many stories and adventures about his dad’s experiences while “haunting.” Toby has expressed that he would like to be in a haunted house like his dad.
This year, Toby had that very opportunity. Josh and Christin Blom own the Zombies in
downtown Yankton. They have a costume shop and two haunted houses that run during
October each year. Josh and Christin heard that Toby had a dream of being a haunter and invited him to come help at the Asylum, which is one of the haunted houses.
Toby made plans to come help at the Asylum the Friday before Halloween week. Toby
partnered up with his friend Joe Mason in the dental room to scare the patrons as they came through the Asylum. Toby had such a good time and was so scary that the owners asked him to come back on Saturday and for the full Halloween weekend to do it again.
Through his experience, Toby made many great friendships. The owners have already offered Toby a spot on the cast for next year’s season. Toby is already planning what he is going to do with his makeup and how he is going to scare people next year. When Toby talks about his time at the Asylum, he always says that his “Dad would be proud.”
