See what we talk about!
Bill Sorensen is a very outgoing person. He loves to socialize and works hard. He has had a number of different jobs in Yankton, including green house work, janitorial jobs, stocking shelves and landscaping. While Bill enjoyed these jobs, he continued to tell his team that his dream job would be working as a cashier. Bill and his Employment Specialist found several computer based apps that helped Bill learn how to run a cash register and count back change. In August 2015, Bill saw an employment ad for Culver’s. He knew he was not ready to work as a cashier but thought that he might enjoy working at Culver’s until he was ready. Bill went to Culver’s to pick up an application. He talked with the hiring manager and set up an interview for later that same day. After the interview, Bill was offered a position as a Porter. His primary job is to bring customers their orders in the drive thru and dining room. He also helps keep the dining room clean and restocked between orders. Bill has enjoyed being able to socialize with customers and joking around with his coworkers. Earlier this year, Bill mentioned to one of his managers that he had been learning how to run a cash register and that it was a goal of his to get a cashier job. Bill’s manager offered him the chance to do some hands on shadowing as a cashier. After a few hours, Bill discovered that being a cashier was not as enjoyable as he thought it would be. He decided that he prefers his job as a Porter much more and plans to continue in his current job for many more years.
